Ballandean Estate Wines is an icon in the Queensland Wine Industry and has been owned and operated by the Puglisi family since 1929. Four generations of the family have nurtured the vines and produced wines with the result so far being award winning vintages and hospitality that is unsurpassed.
The Wines are made by Dylan Rhymer who has achieved great results since he began at Ballandean in 2000. Dylan has applied techniques he has learned from a number of vintages throughout Europe and brings a great wealth of experience to the winemaking team.
The wines produced are varied with signature styles being Viognier, Sylvaner, Shiraz and Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc. The range of wines available reflects the belief that there is a wine for all palates and to this end, the wine styles range from dry to sweet and our specialty fortifieds.
The Vines have been carefully nurtured by owner Angelo Puglisi since 1968 when he and wife Mary purchased the vineyard from his father. The first wine grape vines were planted then and are still producing some of our finest wines today. To date, 100 acres have been planted in our 2 Ballandean vineyards with 25 different varieties so far. Angelo has always relished finding new varieties that suit the Granite Belt conditions and he is continuing his search today with 2 more varieties being planted in 2009.
